Accessibility at History in Action
At History in Action, we want everyone to have a great day and enjoy the event as comfortably as possible. We’re committed to making the show welcoming and accessible, and we’re continually looking at ways we can improve the experience for all our visitors.
Getting around the site
Much of the event site is served by tarmac roads and accessible routes, although, as you would expect from an outdoor event, some areas have grass, uneven ground or natural terrain.
The majority of the site is relatively flat, although there may be slopes and uneven surfaces in some areas. If you use a wheelchair, mobility scooter or other mobility aid, you may find some parts of the site easier to navigate than others, particularly following wet weather. If you need a little extra assistance, our team will be happy to help wherever they reasonably can.
Toilets and facilities
Accessible toilets are available around the event site, with additional facilities provided in key areas where appropriate.
Please note that changing places facilities are not currently available at the event. If this is something you require, we recommend planning ahead and contacting us before your visit so that we can discuss what assistance or reasonable adjustments may be possible.
Battlefield displays and loud noises
We want everyone to be able to enjoy our displays safely and comfortably. Some of our military demonstrations may include loud bangs, engine noise, pyrotechnic effects or other sudden sounds.
If you use hearing aids, you may wish to adjust them during particularly loud demonstrations. Visitors who are sensitive to loud or unexpected noises may also wish to bring ear defenders or other hearing protection.
Where possible, we’ll provide information about particularly noisy displays in advance so that you can decide what works best for you.
Viewing areas
We aim to provide suitable viewing areas for visitors who may have difficulty standing for long periods or seeing over crowds. Details of any dedicated or priority viewing arrangements will be provided as part of the event information.
If you have a particular access requirement, please get in touch with us before the event. We’ll always do our best to find a practical solution.
Accessible parking
Accessible parking spaces are available for visitors who hold a Blue Badge.
Please have your Blue Badge clearly displayed when you arrive. Our parking team will be on hand to direct you to the appropriate area.
Accessible parking spaces are limited, so we recommend arriving early if you need to use one. If you have any questions about parking or getting from the car park to the event, please speak to a member of our team.
Camping
If you’re staying on site, accessible toilets and showers are available within the public camping facilities.
Outdoor camping can present additional challenges for some visitors, particularly in wet weather. If you have specific accessibility requirements, please contact us before booking or attending so we can discuss the facilities available and any reasonable adjustments that may be possible.
We’re here to help
Accessibility means different things to different people. Whether you have a mobility, hearing, visual, cognitive or other access requirement, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us before your visit.
The more we know in advance, the more we can do to make your day at History in Action enjoyable, comfortable and inclusive.
We’re always happy to listen to feedback and suggestions about accessibility. If there’s something you think we could do better, please let us know.
Everyone is welcome at History in Action — and we look forward to seeing you there.
